DEBORAH COX

Canadian R&B singer-songwriter andactress. Her 1998 song "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" held the record for longest-running number one single on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart (14 weeks), a record held for nearly eight years. She has achieved 12 number-one hits on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart. She is often cited as Canada's top R&B artist.

Outmusic honored Deborah Cox with the Outmusic Pillar Award for her love and support of LGBT people and her staunch advocacy for Equality! 

!n a interview article Deborah Cox said "My passion is and always has been the LGBT youth. The ones that have a hard time coming out, being bullied, that kind of thing. Helping them get their point across and really be heard. The disenfranchised, the African American LGBT community, who have really been chastised. When a black person comes out of the closet, there are really so many layers to it. There are always issues, but for me, those issues are at the forefront.
