LARA Statement on the Election of Trump/Pence: We Will Amplify The Soun d of Freedom and Equality

Today Outmusic - The LGBT Academy of Recording Arts (LARA) makes a reaffirmed commitment to continue its mission to Amplify The Sound of Freedom and Equality.

To all our supporters and members, and to all our fellow brothers and sisters who are concerned, afraid and faced with uncertainty: know that we hear you, we see you and we love you. Each and everyone of you.

Wednesday’s election results has left our diverse LGBT community feeling disenfranchised, violated and disregarded as anything other than equal. Now more than ever, we must stand together to work for justice and lift our vibrations to love and protect one another even more. Let our diverse differences be our undeniable strength, our voice and our driving force to be the change we want to see in the world.

In memory of those freedom fighters who came before us, let their legacy inspire us to be stronger than ever today, and for future generations to come. We are indeed stronger TOGETHER and will not concede to hatred and fear, nor will we let it divide us.

Our mission for equal representation remains and will continue to work for our equality, for our right to be seen, to be heard, respected and treated as human beings.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
