OUTMUSIC INC. is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization that serves as an umbrella to support the work LARA (LGBT Academy of Recording Arts).
Our mission is to promote the advancement and appreciation of LGBTQ music culture & heritage as a recognized artform, create opportunities to support the development of young aspiring artists, increase visibility in honoring, documenting and archiving the contributions and achievements of marginalized LGBTQ artists into music & entertainment history.
The OUTMUSIC AWARDS is the biggest night in LGBT music & entertainement. Our mission is to educate, raise awareness and ensure that the contributions and achievements of marginalized LGBT artists are acknowledged, documented, celebrated and archived into media, music and entertainment history.
To support our missions, the Academy films the OUTMUSIC Awards live to tape. LARA relies heavily on the tax deductible donations to support the production of this important event and video archives.
The I AM Music Project was created as part of our OUTmusic Foundation's Sponsor A Young Person Initiative to give homeless and at risk young people access to the arts through a series of educational workshops and hands on mentoring from creative industry professionals.
The students learn about the important steps in creating intellectual property, how to protect it, learn techniques in performing and recording their material and what it takes to prepare for a live performance at the OUTmusic Awards (OMAs).
